HyperDyne makes technology invisible - Modern information and communication technologies – personal computers, mobile phones, broadband, multimedia content, and web-driven applications – touch every aspect of our daily lives.

Yet, these technologies are rapidly surpassing the non-technical consumer’s ability to comprehend and engage with them, creating significant hurdles for their widespread adoption.

HyperDyne solves this dilemma by developing interactive, intuitive interfaces, adapted to specific user profiles, which mask technical complexity.

The result? Intelligent, compelling, and usable interfaces that enable emerging technologies to rapidly diffuse into the non-technical mass market.

Past Projects - Broadband Connectivity – The price of broadband access in most countries is now at levels that should see uptake skyrocket. Yet, consumers appear reluctant to move from narrowband services. Cost is no longer the issue – technology hurdles are. Many ISPs prefer self-installation options to reduce their rollout costs. Non-technical users, however, are reluctant to perform their own installation.

Australia’s largest telecommunications company, Telstra Corp., approached HyperDyne to develop a solution. The resulting Self-Install Kit (“SIK”) software automates the installation process, guiding the customer in a technically non-confrontational manner through connecting the modem, adapters, and filters, and then automatically completes the installation and account registration process to get the customer online.

HyperDyne’s SIK software achieves a 97% success rate and has reduced Telstra’s support costs by 31%. It is now being commercialised by emotum Pty Ltd.

Multimedia - A key market segment for multimedia educational products is pre- and primary school children. While certainly familiar with computer technology, many children in this segment lack the technical sophistication assumed by most multimedia interfaces.

HyperDyne has worked with a range of early learning, educational and training publishers, including DreamWorks, Harper Collins, Disney Interactive, and Microsoft, to develop interfaces that overcome the visual, auditory and conceptual processing hurdles that may prevent young children from successfully using multimedia products.

Video Encoding and Codec Development – HyperDyne’s pedigree in video encoding and codec development has its genesis in the co-development of the original Microsoft Windows AVI codec. Since then, it has pioneered many groundbreaking techniques in the adaptation and display of video on PCs, specialising in codecs optimised for the ultra efficient and scalable transfer of video images in low data rate environments.

Hyperdyne’s video codec/encoding technology is being commercialised by associated company, Bada bing bada boom!
